Tileston Outreach Health Clinic

Trish Doyle, Executive Director

                                            History and Background

The Tileston Outreach Health Clinic was established in 1991 to provide medical care to those in our community who have no form of health insurance and whose income falls within the federal poverty guidelines. Today the clinic provides acute and chronic care to those in a six-county area who otherwise would receive inadequate medical care or no health care at all.  Our patient population is approximately 60% Hispanic, 20% African-American, and 20% Caucasian and other.  We serve all who seek our services with no regard to ethnicity or creed.  All our services are provided free of charge.  Last year we were able to provide healthcare for 2,500 patients.

In response to the great need in our community, in 1994 our Dental Clinic was opened.  Today we have dental clinic every week and provide extractions only.  Without question, the biggest gap in health care in our community is dental care.  Our goal for the coming year is to increase the hours the dental clinic is opened and to expand the scope of services we offer.  We are particularly interested in starting a pediatric dental clinic.

Tileston Hold'em Poker Tournament IV will be held May 31, 2008 at the Coastline Convention Center with free poker strategy clinic at 9:00 AM, registration at 10:00 AM and play beginning at 11:00 AM. The previous tournaments have been huge successes and we expect this one to be our largest field yet. The winner will go with a friend to Las Vegas for 3 days and receive an entry fee into a World Series of Poker event. All players will begin with $10,000 in chips (no monetary value of course). THOSE WHO PREREGISTER WILL RECEIVE AN ADDITIONAL $1,000 IN CHIPS. The $150 donation can be paid by credit card using the link below or by sending a check to the Tileston Hold'em, c/o Full Deck Productions, 1213 Culbreth Drive, Wilmington, NC 28405. In addition to the main tournament, we will have an optional 2nd Chance Tournament. For a donation of $50, those players who are knocked out of the main event early will have an opportunity to keep playing and compete for prizes.
